Iran, Turkey hold joint consular commission

Ali Chegini, the director of Iran Foreign Ministry's consular department, headed the Iranian delegation in the commission session.

The Iranian and Turkish delegations discussed a wide range of issues, including facilitating consular and police affairs between the two countries, providing the necessary facilities for the Iranian nationals living in Turkey, removing the legal, administrative and consular boundaries for the nationals of both countries and making it possible for the families of the Iranian and Turkish prisoners serving their prison terms in other country to meet with them.

The two sides also reviewed adoption of preventive measures in establishment of restrictions in the area of illegal border crossings, coordination for dealing with smuggling, issuance of driving certificates by traffic police of both countries for those holing the driving certificates of their own countries as well as the extradition of prisoners.
