Iran 1st VP: Discord, violence, terrorism dangerous anywhere, in any name

Addressing the 9th Summit of the D8 Organization for Economic Cooperation in Istanbul, Jahangiri said that the adoption of interventionist policies on the one hand and the growth of extremism and regional violence on the other hand has contributed to the emergence of the current challenges, crises and threats facing the world.

These two political phenomena are not compatible with any of the international and regional developments and realities by any means, the vice president said, adding, 'Our time is the time of development of sciences and modern technologies, the time of awareness and awakening of the nations, the time of the growth of democracy and co-existence in a varied and multicultural world, not unilateralism in a colonization era style and not extremism and violence in the name of ethnicity, nationality or religion.'

'All of us have to be sensitive about the hegemonic and extremist regional policies of the current US administration and Zionist regime and do not allow these interventionist policies to exacerbate violence, extremism and discord in the Muslim world.'

With reliance on capabilities of its member states, D8 Organization for Economic Cooperation has a good capacity for development and growth, Jahangiri said, adding that Iran will spare no effort to help the organization reach its goals.

Having the world's largest gas and oil reserves, Iran is ready to help the world energy security in a long-term cooperation and help boost the capacity of international transit corridors with joint investments in road, rail and marine transportation infrastructure, the official added.

Jahangiri said that Iran does not regard itself as a rival for any other country in the region and deems the capability of all Muslim countries as its own capability.
