US pressurizing Pakistan to abandon IP project: Pakistani ex-FM

“We have not been able to complete the Iran-Pakistan (IP) gas pipeline project because of US pressure and I think they are not going to lighten up this pressure,” said Inam-ul-Haq while answering a query at Islamabad Policy Research Institute.

Iran has already completed laying down of the pipeline from Pars gas field up to area bordering with Pakistan, but Islamabad has yet to start construction of the project in its territory.

Earlier ambassador of Iran to Pakistan Mehdi Honardoost had said that Iran-Pakistan (IP) gas pipeline is a key project that will completely change the face of Pakistan’s economy.

Analysts and experts in Pakistan believe that the project is very important to cater the energy requirements of Pakistan thus should be completed at the earliest.

Inam-ul-Haq to another question said that Pakistan government has to ensure that terrorist group Deash must not get any space in the country.

He added presence of Daesh will be detrimental for Pakistani nation and the country.
He said no non-state organization can really occupy space particularly a terrorist organization or an organization which take steps that are not acceptable to the world, in today’s world.

“So occupy a geographical space is the objective of all organizations to obtain legitimacy. If you want to deny them legitimacy you need to deny them space and deny them money,” he noted.

Former foreign secretary expressing his views said Daesh has pushed backed in Middle East but is moving to other areas.
