Iran, Tatarstan sign agreement on wrestling

During the meeting, Shaikhutdinov said that Tatarstan is keen on wide-scale sports cooperation with Iran, especially in the various courses of wrestling, and using its experience in the field.

“Cooperation in the field has gained momentum but we favor they gain further speed. Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov underline further promotion of free-style and Greco-Roman wrestling,” he said.

Khadem, also said, “Russia is considered a global technical power in the sport, and we have good inter-federation cooperation with it and we are also interested to promote collaboration with Tatarstan in the area.”

Mutual presence of Iran and Tatarstan wrestling teams, holding joint camps and dispatching Iranian coaches for training Tatarstan wrestler were among the areas of cooperation proposed by Khadem.

Meanwhile, Head of Tatarstan Wrestling Federation Exan Gobaldin said that he attaches special respect to Iran’s wrestling and Iranian wrestlers’ mode of competition is admirable.

“We are interested to use Iran’s technical knowledge and successful experience in free-style and Greco-Roman wrestling,” he said.

Memorandum of understanding (MoU), whose text will be prepared for final signing, serves as a roadmap for three-year cooperation in the field wrestling.
