Iran, Uzbekistan sign MoU on future co-op

Uzbek Minister of Foreign Miniser Abdulaziz Kamilov who is visiting Iran met with his Iranian counterpart Mohammad Javad Zarif.

Pointing to the age-old relations between the two countries, Zarif urged enhancing bilateral ties in all spheres.

The Uzbek foreign minister, for his part, said that due to the importance of the relations between the two countries, some senior officials of gas and oil, and trade sectors of Uzbekistan are accompanying him during his visit to Iran.

The two sides also discussed enhancing cooperation in tourism, automobile industry, countering terrorism and extremism, holding joint economic committee, establishing direct flights, and transit issues.

Regional developments, including in Afghanistan, Iraq and Syria were among other issues that Iran and Uzbekistan Foreign Ministers discussed. The meeting was followed by signing the memorandum of understanding on future cooperation between the two countries' ministries of foreign affairs.
