African Union supports Iran nuclear deal

The nuclear agreement was a victory for multilateral diplomacy, Faki Mahamat said in his statement released on Sunday, referring to the international landmark deal, also known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).

He described the JCPOA as an important tool, verified by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), and he appreciated all efforts by the signatories to the July 2015 deal to stay committed to the accord.

The Iran nuclear deal has promoted regional stability considerably and revived confidence of international communities to Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT), the statement by the AU further said.
