Trump angry with Iran resistance: Senior cleric

Tehran interim Friday Prayers leader Ayatollah Mohammad Emami Kashani referred to Donald Trump’s speech at the 72nd session of the UN General Assembly and said, '(Our people's) sacrifices and braveries make enemies and Americans furious.'

'Their plot is to take over the region and create a new Middle East,' the cleric added in a reference to the American plan to reshape the geopolitics of the region.

The US President Donald Trump used a hawkish rhetoric towards Iranian people and government in his recent speech at the 72nd UN General Assembly. He accused the Islamic Republic of exporting violence and chaos in the region.

Contrary to Trump's remarks, regional states in various occasions have acknowledged Iran's support in the fight against terrorism and extremism.
