Iran, Armenia to expand cooperation : Envoy

Establishing peaceful ties and cooperation with countries of the region, particularly those neighboring Armenia, is of significant importance to Yerevan, Artashes Tumanyan said.

He said many steps have been taken to boost bilateral and multilateral ties between Iran and Armenia, including the projects for setting up the third electricity transmission line, the International North–South Transport Corridor (INSTC) and to establish trade ties between Iran and Eurasian Economic Union, Free Trade Zones.

Commenting on Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, the diplomat said despite remaining unresolved, the issue is one of the main topics in Armenia's foreign policy.

'The dispute can be resolved through peaceful talks,' the envoy added.

Armenia will continue to cooperate with Minsk Group member states, he said, adding that Iran's balanced approach toward the issue is very valuable to Yerevan.
