Iran, UK ink contract for construction of biggest solar power plant

Iran's Ambassador to London Hamid Baeedinejad and British permanent secretary of the Department of Energy & Climate Change, Alex Chisholm, were present during the signing ceremony.

British Korkas Company, the operator of the project, says the contract features the most remarkable cooperation between a British company and Iran following lifting of international sanctions on Iran.

The company says as a country whose economy is the second in its kind in the region, Iran will raise its electricity generation capacity by five gigawatt by 2020.

So, when the project is fully implemented, Iran will enjoy the world's biggest solar powerplant, it added.
