Iranian, Indian defense ministers stress fight on terrorism

The Iranian Minister of Defense Brigadier General Hossein Dehqan, and his Indian counterpart Arun Jaitley, talked on regional and international issues on the sidelines of the 6th Conference on International Security.

Referring to the common cultural points between Iran and India, and geopolitical and geostrategic importance of the two countries, Dehqan said, “Improving political, military, and security ties between Iran and India can be of great help to improve the security index in the region and significantly affect the stable peace,” adding that exchanging experiences and fight on extremism, terrorism, and piracy are important parts of Iran-India collaboration.

Jaitley said in the meeting that undoubtedly the common history and civilization of Iran and Indian has created good ties in safeguarding security, adding that India has an uncompromising stance against terrorism and does not have any obstacles to collaboration in this field.

Dehqan is going to have a speech at the 6th Conference on International Security on Wednesday morning . The two-day meeting is being held with 700 attendees from 80 countries. The Takfiri movement and terrorism are the main issues in the meeting.

Dehqan is also going to meet his Russian counterpart, Sergey Kuzhugetovich Shoygu, and some other defense ministers, and also take part in the trilateral meeting with the Syrian and Russian ministers of defense in order to strengthen convergence to fight terrorism.
