Iran, Thailand keen on bolstering trade ties

He made the remarks in a meeting on Thursday with Director-General of the Department of International Trade Promotion Nantawan Sakuntanaga.

Farazandeh arrived in the Thai capital, Bangkok, to attend the 3rd Thailand and Iran political consultations which is to be held at the level of directors general of foreign ministries of the two countries.

Touching upon the two countries' cordial relations, Farazandeh called for removing the obstacles on the ways of boosting mutual banking cooperation.

Pointing to the efforts made for holding a joint trade committee, the Iranian official expressed hope that the meeting could be held in Tehran as soon as possible.

Sakuntanaga, who is also Thailand deputy commerce minister, for her part, voiced the Thai officials' willingness to expand economic relations with Iran.

She called exchanging trade delegations as an effective way for enhancing mutual relations.

Sakuntanaga also went on to say that Thai investors are keen to have an active presence in Iran's energy, industry and tourism sectors.
