Ukraine sympathizes with Iran on killer quake

President Petro Poroshenko's letter was handed over by Kubiv to visiting Head of Iranian parliament's National Security and Foreign Policy Commission Alaeddin Boroujerdi in a meeting held in Kiev.

Iran's Ambassador to Kiev Mohammad Beheshti Monfared also was present in the meeting.

The Ukrainian president has voiced his deepest sympathy with the Iranian government and nation over the fatal incident.

According to latest reports released on Thursday about the number of casualties of the 7.3-magnitude earthquake in western Iran, so far, the fatal tremor has claimed at least 432 lives and injured over 9,397 others.

More in the meeting, Boroujerdi and Kubiv emphasized the need for promotion of all-out ties in various arenas.

Boroujerdi added that the Iranian parliament supports reinforcement of Tehran-Kiev ties.

Bolstering direct banking cooperation, facilitating procedures for issuing visas and implementing the agreements signed between the two countries would play a pivotal role in reinforcing bilateral cooperation, Boroujerdi stressed.

Meanwhile, Kubiv said that the central bank of Ukraine and the country's Security Council have removed all obstacles hindering expansion of mutual ties with Iran.

Touching upon the 32-percent growth in Ukraine and Iran transactions last year, he stressed that the figure has hit 60 percent in the first eight months of 2017.

The two sides also reviewed the issues to be discussed in the upcoming 7th Joint Economic Commission, to be held in Tehran within months.
