The competitions are being held with the attendance of 10 grand masters from Iran, Georgia and Azerbaijan.

Tabriz 2018 Chess Contest is to commemorate the 2018 Cultural-Historical Event with the efforts of the Sports Organization of the Municipality of Tabriz.

Iranian chess Grandmasters Ehsan Ghaem-Maghami, Asghar Golizade, Morteza Mahjub Zardast, Masoud Mosadeghpour together with some other Iranian players are attending the event.
