On Friday, Kazemi – representing the country in the men’s -58kg contests – overcame China’s Yushuai Liang 31-26 in the final bout.

Kazemi had outpowered opponents from Ecuador and Kuwait before a semifinal victory over Russian Alexi Rudnik.

Having started on November 27, the competition finishes at Rio’s the Amazonas Azul Gymnasium on December 3.
