Iran's Esteqlal defeats Al Hilal of Saudi Arabia 1-0

The match began at 20:15 hours local time at Al-Kuwait Stadium in Kuwait City with a referee from Uzbekistan judging the game.

The sole goal of the game came at the 36th minute into the first half when Esteqlal forward Varia Ghafuri received the ball at the penalty area of the rival team and shot it directly into the goal. The result remained unchanged until the end of the match despite efforts of Al-Hilal players to score the equalizer.

With this win, Esteqlal got 12 points and stood on top of Group D.

Simultaneous with Esteqlal-Al Hilal match, Al Ain of the United Arab Emirates played against Al Rayyan of Qatar which ended up in a 4-1 victory for the UAE club to finish runner up in Group D.
