
UWW had already chosen Iran as the host of the world event in 2018.
Representative of the UWW will soon travel to Iran to visit facilities in Ahvaz, the capital city of Khuzestan province which is to host the world Greco-Roman championship on April 27-28.
Eight teams from Iran, Russia, Turkey, Georgia, Germany, Armenia, Hungary and Kazakhstan will attend the international tournament.
Iranian cities have already hosted world Greco-Roman competitions for seven years in 1997, 2005, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016 and 2017.
The Iranian Greco-Roman team has clinched the championship title in the world contests five times in Armenia's 2010, Belarus's 2011, Russia's 2012, Iran's 2014 (in Tehran) and Iran's 2016 (in Shiraz).
The Iranian team has also stood at the second place twice in 2004 and 2013 in Tbilisi and Tehran respectively.
