Iranian boxer earns silver at Bulgaria Int'l Tournament

Gholami in the weight category of 91 kg had three victories and one defeat and ranked second, Head of Kermanshah Boxing Committee Hossein Fashi told the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA).

'In the first match, he hit a rival from Morocco and advanced to the second stage,' he said.

In the second match, he overpowered a boxer from Bulgaria and advanced to the semi-final match, he added.

After defeating the Brazilian fighter at the semi-final match, he stood against Bulgarian athlete but was overpowered and snatched a silver medal, Fashi noted.

Iranian squad clinched 2 silver and 1 bronze medals at the 69th International Boxing Tournament “Strandja”.

The event was held with the attendance of over 250 athletes from 26 countries in Sofia, Bulgaria on February 18-26.
