
In a meeting with representative of Oman Sports Ministry Fahad bin Abdullah al-Raeisi, deputy minister of sports and youth, Mohammad Reza Davarzani added, “Oman is a brother and friend of ours and we are trying to have closer cooperation with the country in both spheres.”
“Iran boasts of a special status in various sports courses in the world and it has the capacity to share its experience with the regional states such as Oman so that grounds for progress of sports including wrestling, weightlifting, Taekwondo, Karate, Football, Handball, Volleyball and Basketball in the Middle East and Asia,” he said.
Iran’s development plans in the field of female sports are being pursued seriously as Iranian women athletes have gained good achievements in international competitions, Davarzani said.
Omani official, for his part, welcomed cooperation with Iran in the field of sports, saying that Tehran and Oman proximity is a good opportunity for boosting collaboration and exchanging experience in the field of sports.
“We are eager to hold joint training courses, educational camps, friendly competitions and exchange of specialized manpower,” he said.
Stressing the need for the countries to have cooperation in the field of sports, Al-Raeisi said that sport is a gateway for further communications.
In view of cultural and Islamic commonalities, Oman is ready to have cooperation in the women sports sector, he said.
