Behrouz Ataei's men were beat by Qatar 3-2 while they had won the first two sets of the game.
Iran defeated Qatar in the first two sets 25-23 and 25-21 and was defeated by its mighty rival in the third, fourth and fifth set 25-22, 25-18 and 15-10, respectively.
This was the fifth time that Iran reached to the final game of AVC Cup.
With three gold medals and a silver one, Iran has been the most honorable team of the previous five editions of the tournament.
In the third place game, Japan defeated the hosts (China Taipei) to rank third.
