The Championships was played according to the Swiss System of 7 or 9 Rounds, depending on the number of participant teams: for 16 or less 7 rounds and for more, 9 rounds Swiss system on the model of the Olympiads, with one section for the men’s teams and one section for the women’s teams, considered as separate competitions, or Round Robin with ten or fewer teams.
The event was organized by Iran Chess Federation on behalf of the Asian Chess Federation.
Earlier, Iranian squad stood atop of the Asian Nation Cup 2018 rapid category.
China and India ranked second and third respectively.
