Imam Khomeini could free Iranians from colonialism after toppling Pahlavi dynasty, Varouj Minasian told the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA).
Expressing condolences over the 30th anniversary of the Demise of Imam Khomeini, he said Imam Khomeini could make Iranian society independent and was also able to pave the way for development without relying on foreigners.
Despite economic problems in Iran, other countries do not enjoy the political, economic and cultural independence that the Iranian are enjoying, Minasian said.
"My country did not have political independence during the Qajar dynasty and afterwards until the victory of the Islamic Revolution," he said, adding that before the Islamic Revolution foreigners decided on behalf of the rulers in Iran.
Minasian, however, said that after the victory of the Islamic Revolution, Iran became one of the powers and players in the region.
He went on to say that the Islamic Revolution of Iran has turned out to be a pattern for the freedom-seekers.
The international and regional developments proves this issue and many nations are seeking their own political independence and are fighting against colonialism and arrogance.
