One should not expect that those who have imposed economic war on ordinary people of Iran or support such behavior will not be harmed, Zarif said.
He made the remarks in a joint press conference with German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas in Tehran on Monday.
Iran, Germany and the EU have a common goal and that is saving the JCPOA, preventing tensions and conflict in the region and benefiting the Iranian people from the nuclear deal's advantages, Zarif added.
He said that the US has declared an economic war on Iran, noting that this war is very dangerous for the region, the world and the international order.
The US measures have targeted the Iranian people who were expected to benefit from the JCPOA, the foreign minister added.
He referred to 15 IAEA reports that confirm Iran's commitment to its obligations, and said that the Islamic Republic of Iran proved that it is bound to its obligations.
The Iranian government has a duty to defend the Iranian people's rights according to the JCPOA's paragraph 36, Zarif added.
He said that Iran is ready to stop its reciprocal measures in exchange for practical steps by Group 4+1.
Germany and the EU can play an important role in concluding the US' economic war on Iran, Zarif noted.
Elsewhere in his remarks, he described the Zionist regime's aggression and the US' unconditional support for this regime's crimes as the root cause of problems in the region.
Iran will not start a war, but if anyone starts a war with Iran, it will not be able to end it, Zarif said.
The foreign minister said that Iran is ready for talks with its neighbors.
Commenting about Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe's trip to Iran, he said that bilateral ties are the aim of this trip.
