In their letter which was released on Wednesday, President of FISU Oleg Matytsin and FISU Secretary-General Eric Saintrond hailed the efforts made by Iran in developing university sports.
It is an honor for FISU to celebrate this day with other members, the letter reads.
The university sports day paves the way for promoting sports values in the world, it added.
In over 170 countries with more than 60 sports for more than 60 years, FISU is the global leader of university sports. The International Day of University Sport carries on this tradition by bringing campus and community together.
Launched in 2016 and officially proclaimed by UNESCO, the International Day of University Sport on September 20 does more than drive general awareness of FISU’s work. The day also creates links between universities and their local communities, focused around sport, physical activity and healthy living.
