Iran and the Philippines encountered in the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2019 Asian Qualifiers second match of the fifth window, where Iran defeated the rival with a late 78-70 win.
“Jamshidi and Yakhchali stun Philippines,” said FIBA in its website.
Mohammad Jamshidi and Behnam Yakhchali recieved 26 and 21 points for Iran respectively to greatly help Iran in the win.
Iran did not take the lead until the fourth quarter where the fine performance of its players turned the 52-60 loss to the 78-70 win.
Iran currently sits in the second place of the Group F of the qualifiers round after Australia to host Japan and Australia in February 2019 in the final window of this round.
