Taftian snatched a gold medal in 100 meters race after finishing at 10.19 seconds.
He is among the top five fast sprinters of the world in indoor 60-meter relay in the recent ranking released by the International Association of Athletics Federation.
The list was released after the 28th Asian Indoor Athletics Games which was held from February 1-3 in Tehran where sprinter Taftian clocked 6.51 seconds as his best record so far.
Four athletes precede Taftian in the list, three of which are from the US and one from China.
Taftian has won several medals so far including gold in 100 meters at the 2012 Asian Junior Athletics Championships in Colombo, Sri Lanka.
Last July he became the first Iranian to ever win gold in 100 meters in an Asian athletics championships after finishing at 10.25 seconds at the 2017 Asian Athletics Championships in Bhubaneswar, India.
He also bagged a gold medal in the 60m category at the Asian Indoor and Martial Art Games in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan in 2017.
