8th Asian Taekwondo Club Champs kicks off in Karaj

Fighters from Iran, Pakistan, Afghanistan, India and Iraq are participating in the event, Head of Alborz Taekwondo Committee Mohammad Nozari told the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA).

Iran earlier ranked first in the 29th International Taekwondo Competitions held in Karaj, Alborz province from April 20-22.

Some 20 teams from Iraq, Iran, Armenia, Afghanistan, Lebanon, Pakistan, Tajikistan, Russia, Syria, Kazakhstan, Oman and India participated in the international tournament held in men's and women's sections. The team from Alborz province of Iran took the first place with 67 points followed by two other Iranian teams from Qeshm and Kish Free Trade Zones that ranked second and third respectively.

The members of Alborz province team won four gold and four bronze medals to win the first title while the runner up team grabbed three gold and four silver medals.

The third place was taken by the taekwondo fighters of Kish Free Trade Zone who won one gold, three silver and three bronze medals.
