The US President Donald Trump chaired a meeting on non-proliferation of weapons of mass destruction and repeated his hackneyed allegations against Iran but even the traditional allies of the US didn’t stand by the US in the session.
French President Immanuel Macron said in the UNSC meeting that the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action is an important deal and all the signatories must stay loyal to it.
The British Prime Minister Theresa May also supported the deal and added that Iran has been loyal to its commitments.
Bolivia’s President Evo Morales referred to the US-led coup against Iran's 'democratically elected' Prime Minister Mohammad Mosaddeq in 1953 and added, 'Now that Iran has retaken control of its own resources, it is once again the victim of a US siege.”
“In no way is the United States interested in upholding democracy,” Morales said.
Chinese Minister of Foreign Affairs Wang Yi said that the JCPOA is a multilateral agreement verified and approved by the UN Security Council.
He added that all parties should uphold the principles, safeguard the effectiveness of the JCPOA.
'Russia believes that the JCPOA must be kept alive,' said the Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.
