
About a week ago, Zarif visited Turkmenistan, India, Japan and China and held talks with top officials of the four Asian countries on the US measures to create tension in the region and Iranian commitment to the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action endorsed by the UN Security Council Resolution 2231.
Iran reduced commitments to the July 2015 nuclear deal from which the United Stated withdrew unilaterally a year ago and led Iran to take reciprocal measure based on Articles 26 and 36 of the JCPOA.
In Pakistan, Zarif is to confer with his Pakistani counterpart on latest international and regional developments.
The Iranian foreign minister is also to follow up the process of implementation of mutual agreements with the Pakistani side.
On May 8, 2019, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani said that JCPOA needs surgery.
'We have never been the first to violate the commitments or to wage war, but at the same time we never capitulate to the bullying and will not do so, and we will certainly give appropriate response to any kind of aggression,' Rouhani said at the first anniversary of the US exit from the international nuclear deal.
