VP: Malaysia supporting JCPOA

She said the aims of her visit to Malaysia were submitting President Rouhani's message on JCPOA and talks for development of bilateral ties in different fields.

Ebtekar also said that she submitted President Hassan Rouhani's official invitation letter to Prime Minister Mohamad to pay a visit to Iran.

The VP said that the new situation following the exit of the US from JCPOA needs new policies and situation, which were discussed by senior Malaysian officials.

She added that in meetings with prime minister, deputy prime minister and minister of women and family affairs as well as foreign minister the two sides discussed importance and strengthening mutual cooperation between Iran and Malaysia.

Ebtekar said Iran and Malaysia had good relations since long time ago and now by new government of Malaysia, we hope relations between the two countries can become more strengthened.

'In meeting with Foreign Minister Saifuddin Abdullah, we discussed strengthening bilateral relations, especially economic ties and facilitation of trade exchanges between the two countries were considered and discussed,' she added.

Vice President Ebtekar said in a meeting with Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Women and Family Development Wan Azizah Wan Ismail the two sides discussed exchanging experiences and mutual cooperation in the fields of women and family and signing a memorandum of understanding to this end.

Ebtekar also invited the Malaysian side to pay a visit to Iran.

This is the first Iranian senior official visit to Malaysia since Mahathir Mohamad took office.

Following her one-day visit to Malaysia, Ms. Ebtekar departed Kuala Lumpur for Indonesia on Tuesday evening.
