'The move was made exactly on the eve of Israeli elections and has been made to help Netanyahu not to lose the election, ' Fan Hongda, an expert on the Middle East at Xiamen University told IRNA.
Donald Trump on April 8 in a hostile act called Iran's Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC) a terrorist group. The forces are part of Iran's Armed Forces and has been playing an advisory role in fighting Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS).
'The decision was in fact a move in support for Benjamin Netanyahu,' the Chinese professor said.
Describing all US measures against Iran in line with Washington's support for Israel, he said that the US is trying to increase pressure on Iran to weaken it.
'This is exactly what Israel wants,' Fan said.
'A series of decisions Trump has made, including recognizing Quds as the capital of the Zionist regime, recognizing Israeli sovereignty over the occupied Golan Heights, and calling Iran's IRGC a terrorist organization, all are moves aimed at buying Jewish community's support and votes for Netanyahu election,' he argued.
The move against IRGC would finally lead to escalation in the Middle East and destroy the peace and stability in the region, according to the Chinese expert.
