US, French presidents discuss Iran, Syria

The White House announced, in a short statement, that Donald Trump and Emmanue Macron discussed a wide range of issues, including the situation in Syria, Iran, and promoting trade between the United States and the European Union.

According to Bloomberg, French officials, who spoke on condition of anonymity, told reporters that 'Trump asked Macron for his views, listened to the answers, and didn’t seek confrontation.'

The two presidents also discussed Iran's regional role while President defended its decision to re-impose sanctions on Iran.

Trump and Macron also agreed to cooperate with Turkey on the issue of Idlib in Syria, the last terrorist foothold in the country.

The 73rd session of the United Nations General Assembly kicked off on 18 September and is scheduled to last for nine working days.
