US House of Representatives ratified the resolution with 247 votes in favor and 175 votes against.
This is while, US President Donald Trump is expected to veto it.
This is the first resolution passed by both US Senate and US House of Representatives since 1973.
It became more serious when Saudi regime killed Saudi Journalist Jamal Khashoggi.
Khashoggi, the Saudi veteran writer and journalist entered the Saudi consulate in Istanbul on October second to collect paperwork for his forthcoming marriage but disappeared there.
After 18 days of silence and rejecting claims that Khashoggi was killed, the Saudi government finally bowed down to international pressure on October 20th and claimed in a statement the prominent journalist was killed in a fist-fight inside Istanbul consulate.
All evidence suggests 15 Saudi agents with close ties to the crown prince Mohammed Bin Salman who were deployed to Istanbul are in charge of killing Khashoggi and dismembering his body.
The Turkish government urges the extradition of these people to be brought to justice.
The resolution urges Trump to withdraw US military forces or those affecting the war from Yemen.
The US Representative from California Ro Khanna who was one of the initiators of the resolution wrote in his Twitter account “Today, the House of Representatives took a clear stand against war and famine by voting to end our complicity in the war in Yemen. This is the first time in the history of this nation that a War Powers Resolution has passed the House and Senate & made it to the President’s desk.”
He added in a separate message “While this victory is historic, we can’t celebrate yet. Hundreds of thousands of civilians have died in Yemen and there are still over 14 million at risk of famine. Trump must sign the resolution so we can finally end this humanitarian crisis and stop supporting Saudi war crimes.”
Saudi Arabia and its regional allies attacked Yemen in March 2015 to bring back to power the deposed president of Yemen Abdrabbuh Mansour Hadi.
Since then, the invaders have committed horrible war crimes against Yemeni civilians.
