Ali Larijani, in a meeting on Friday with Nurlan Nigmatulin Chairman of Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan, said, 'US lack of commitment to multilateral and international agreements should be considered by the UN Security Council and denounced by nations.
'The European countries, even the United Kingdom, are against the US treatment of the Iran nuclear deal,' Larijani added.
Referring to all the international efforts to reach the 2015 agreement, also known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), he said that, 'Iran has paid a great price to achieve the nuclear deal.'
The Iranian Parliament speaker also said that the landmark deal between Tehran and the major world powers has secured Iran's interests.
'But it is not a bilateral agreement,' he said, adding that in recent months Washington has violated the deal.
Larijani said that with regard to such approaches adopted by the US, striking economic accords with the country is also impossible.
'If they [US officials] insist on their approaches, the nuclear deal will die and that will further complicate the situation in the region,' he said.
He also said that if no one stops the US maverick behavior, more problems will arise.
The US has quit the UNESCO and Paris Agreement, too, he said.
Affronting the United Nations Security Council (UNSC), European Union (EU), International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), France, Germany, China, Russia, and all the countries that have supported the Deal, Trump has repeatedly criticized the Iran deal, officially known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), calling it an “embarrassment” and “the worst deal ever negotiated.”
The US Republican president, before his October 15 deadline for endorsing that Iran has been complying with the deal, announced that he wouldn’t confirm Iran's compliance with the Deal.
Trump's administration had twice certified Iran’s compliance with the deal, but if he refused to do so for a third time, now the Congress will have 60 days to decide whether to re-impose sanctions waived under the deal. That would let Congress effectively decide whether to kill the historic deal.
Trump has said that if the Congress doesn’t re-impose the sanctions, he will unilaterally quit the deal.
