UN members are detailed on ICJ provisional decree

'Abdulqawi Ahmed Yusuf, the president of the ICJ, described the provisional decree to the GA in details and named whatever commitments the US has and has to fulfill,' Gholam-Ali Khoshrou told the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA).

'The US has been urged not to apply any limitations in some important issues, like health, medicine, and air transportation; money transfer channels should also be active so as no Iranian people face any problems,' Khoshrou said.

'The provisional decree should be implemented until it becomes final and the US has been urged to avoid taking any measures that will exacerbate the situation.'

He added that the threat made by the US about imposing further sanctions is not only contrary to the Iran-US 1955 Treaty of Amity, it also violated the ICJ's decree.

Khoshrou added, 'The US, while being the host to the United Nations and also a UN Security Council member, actively defies the ICJ's orders.'

'What's worse is that the US has announced that it will not accept any orders issued by the International Court and any reference to its decrees even in the future, and it will not admit the court's qualification for any judgment between any two countries.'

Referring to his speech in the UN in which he urged the world to counter the US' unilateralism, Khoshrou said, 'We are dealing with a country that acts unilaterally by violating the law, taking extrajudiciary and anti-human measures, and trampling the international laws.'

'This is the first time the General Assembly has been given a chance to be detailed on the ICJ verdict and all countries attention been drawn to it.'

Iran urges the whole world to counter US' violations of law to stop it from doing so, he added.

Following Iran's filing a complained against the US, the UN’s International Court of Justice has reprimanded the US over its re-imposition of sanctions on Iran, ordering Washington to lift restrictive measures linked to humanitarian trade, food, medicine and civil aviation.

The ICJ unanimously ruled that Washington 'shall remove by means of its choosing any impediments arising from the measures announced on May 8 to the free exportation to Iran of medicines and medical devices, food and agricultural commodities' as well as airplane parts.

The court has announced that sanctions on goods 'required for humanitarian needs... may have a serious detrimental impact on the health and lives of individuals on the territory of Iran.'
