Tribal issues behind death of Sunni cleric in southeastern Iran

Earlier reports had suggested that Molavi Abdushakour Kord Tarshabi, son of the Late Molavi Abdussattar a former Friday Prayers leader in the city of Khash, was assassinated by some unknown gunmen at 8:00 in front of the Towhidia Mosque in the city.

'Molavi Abdushakour, the 50-year-old employee of the Public Health office in Khash, was killed today only as a result of tribal differences,' Hojatoleslam Ali Movahedi Rad said.

'His assassination has nothing to do with security issues,' Movahedi Rad said.

Molavi Abdushakour was reportedly among the university elite encouraging unity of Shia and Sunni Muslims.
