
Lebanese President Michel Aoun on Tuesday offered his condolences to Iranian President Hassan Rouhani for the deadly earthquake, the Beirut based Daily Star reported.
Aoun’s condolence message was released in a statement posted to the Lebanese presidency’s official Twitter account.
Lebanese Speaker Nabih Berri had earlier offered condolences to Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei.
According to a statement from the Lebanese speaker’s press office, Berri voiced his solidarity with the Iranian victims of the quake in a telephone call to the Leader.
Berri sent also two separate cables expressing similar sentiments to President Rouhani and Iranian Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani.
Meanwhile, the Lebanon Progressive Socialist Party Chief Walid Jumblatt also offered his condolences to Iranian leader and President in separate phone calls.
A strong earthquake measuring 7.3 on the Richter scale jolted western provinces of Iran on Sunday night at 21:48 local time.
The quake was felt in some neighboring states as well.
The latest death toll is 432 dead and 7,817 people have been injured.
