The newest round of talks, aimed at restoring peace in Syria, and backed by Iran, Russia, and Turkey, began with a meeting between Russian President’s Special Envoy for Syria, Alexander Lavrentiev, and the UN Special Envoy for Syria Staffan de Mistura. The two have discussed agenda of the talks.

Formation of a Syrian constitutional committee, the de-escalation zones established in Syria, and humanitarian issues, among others, are topics of the July 30-31 talks.

The Iranian delegation is headed by Hossein Jaberi-Ansari, senior assistant of Iran's foreign minister.
Turkey's envoy to the talks is Sedat Onal.
