Supreme Leader pardons, commutes 715 inmates

The pardon was granted at the request of the country’s Judiciary Chief Ayatollah Sadeq Amoli Larijani on the occasion of the Shaban Month happy days.

Twelver Shias commemorate the month; Shias' third, fourth, and twelfth imams, respectively Imam Hussein, his Son Imam Sajjad, and Imam Mahdi, and Imam Hussein's brother Abbas ibn Ali – Peace be upon them – were born in Shaban.

Article 110 of the Islamic Republic Constitution grants the Supreme Leader the right to pardon or reduce the sentences of convicts upon a recommendation from the head of the Judiciary.
