Suicide blast targeting election candidate kills10 in SW Pakistan

Nawabzada Siraj Raisani, younger brother of former Balochistan chief minister Aslam Raisai, a candidate from Balochistan Awami Party (BNP) in the upcoming general election also injured in the blast.

Siraj’s convoy came under attack shortly after he attended a corner meeting for provincial assembly seat PB-35.

According to reports the injured are being shifted to District Hospital Mastung. Ambulances have been dispatched from Quetta to the area to shift the injured to the provincial capital.

No group has so far claimed responsibility of the attack.

This is the third terrorist attack on a candidate ahead of general polls. Earlier in the day, five people were killed and 33 injured in an attack on the convoy of former Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chief minister and Jamiat-Ulema-Islam (F) leader Akram Khan Durrani in Bannu.

The attack came days after Haroon Bilour, an Awami National Party (ANP) candidate, was killed in suicide attack at a corner meeting.
