Suicide attack kills 28 in Pakistan’s Quetta

The attack targeted the convoy of senior police officer near a polling station on the Eastern Bypass of the city. Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Abdul Razzaq Cheema remained unhurt in the attack.

The injured were shifted to Civil Hospital Quetta. Police confirmed it was a suicide blast and security forces established a cordon around the site of the attack.

No group has so far claimed responsibility of the attack.

The blast comes at a time when the whole Pakistan nation is busy in electing members for the National Assembly and four Provincial Assemblies.

The Chaman border between Pakistan and Afghanistan was closed on Tuesday for the general election in Pakistan.
