Spokesman: US documents against Iran 'ridiculous', 'baseless'

'The new US accusations and claims against Iran are significant and shameless examples of falsifying documents to prove the US president's remarks,' Bahram Qasemi said in a message released on Saturday.

He said that the US is using such allegations 'to save certain allies in the Middle East which are suffering several internal and regional crises'.

The Foreign Ministry spokesman referred to the role of US and its allies in creation of terrorist groups, including Al-Qaeda, and said, 'Such efforts will not alter the internationally accepted opinion about the ideological, logistical and political origin of terrorism.'

Earlier, Foreign Minister of Iran Mohammad Javad Zarif on Thursday lashed out at US claims against Iran and accusing Iran of proposing to finance the Al-Qaeda terrorist group.

“A record low for the reach of petrodollars: CIA & FDD fake news w/ selective Al-Qaeda docs re: Iran can't whitewash role of US allies in 9/11,” Zarif wrote on his Twitter account.

The US Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) has recently released some documents claiming that it has obtained during assassination of Osama bin Laden, founder of the terrorist group of Al-Qaeda, during operations in 2011.

On these sheets which are solely meant for removing the stain of disgrace from the US allies, it was claimed that Iran has proposed to provide the terrorist group with financial and arms backing.

This is while, Tehran has always adopted transparent stance against the terrorist groups such as Daesh (ISIS), Taliban and Al-Qaeda.
