
Addressing a meeting with Iran's Ambassador to Ljubljana Kazem Shafeie, Nemec Matjaž sympathized with victims of the recent floods in Iran.
Referring to the importance of promoting parliamentary diplomacy namely creating parliamentary friendship groups, he said Iran parliamentary friendship group will be established within one month.
Matjaž described Iran as an important partner for Slovenia as regard economic cooperation.
Expressing his personal interest in Iran, he said the country is playing major role in the region.
Meanwhile, Iran ambassador to Slovenia elaborated on the current condition of the flood-hit areas in Iran, describing US administration’s irresponsible, unconstructive and hostile behavior to block humanitarian aids to Iranian people as an example of economic terrorism.
He briefed the Slovenian official on the regional conditions especially in Iraq, Syria, Yemen, Afghanistan and the Occupied Palestine and also Iran’s principled policies.
Shafeie said some countries are after escalating tensions in the region instead of solving issues through negotiations and peaceful processes.
Elsewhere in his remarks, he appreciated Slovenian government’s logical position toward Iran nuclear deal known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), saying Iran and Slovenia relations especially in economic field is promoting despite problems.
Unprecedented heavy rains caused floods in various parts of Iran over the past two weeks. Scores of people were killed and 478 others were injured and a large number were displaced across Iran.
The disaster coincided with the high season of Iranian trips as they were spending the national two-week holidays of Nowruz.
