'Slovenia has supported the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action from the very beginning,' Kristian Radej said.
'As a European country we are following all diplomatic achievements and efforts to keep JCPOA alive and to move forward in a good direction in all other areas from politics to economy.'
The nuclear deal was signed by Iran and the world powers and endorsed by the UN Security Council Resolution 2231 in 2015. Under the deal, Iran agreed to curb its nuclear program in exchange for sanctions relief. Washington, however, in May 2018 announced its withdrawal from the deal and re-imposed sanctions on Iran.
Washington also threatened other allies, including its European allies to stop Iran's oil imports and cut business with Iran.
Speaking to IRNA on Monday evening, the ambassador said that both sides should work on it and do their best to save the deal.
'History has taught us that we can continue with cooperation on the basis of mutual trust and good relations, and I believe that our relations will continue in the same path in the future,' she said.
Slovenia in Central Europe holds a longstanding relations with Iran. Trade between Tehran and Ljubljana has been increasing over the past years according to Iran's Ambassador to Slovenia Kazem Shafe'i.
In a meeting with Slovenian Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Food, Aleksandra Pivec in March this year, Shafei said that the first joint economic commission of the two countries will be held in near future.
