Shamkhani: Western instrumental use of terrorism to expand to Europe

Shamkhani made the remarks in a meeting with Siegfried Bracke, speaker of the Belgian House of Representatives, in Tehran on Saturday.

He added that the Islamic Republic of Iran is ready for promotion of cooperation with Europe, especially Belgium, and parliaments of the two countries can have influential role in preparing the ground for using the extensive opportunities available for investment in the fields of energy, technology and knowledge-based fields in Iran.

Shamkhani pointed to dangers caused by arming, mobilizing, training and sponsoring terrorist groups by certain regional and western countries, and said that the recent events in Europe showed that certain countries' instrumental use of terrorism in Iraq and Syria caused failure to curb it and check spread of the illicit phenomenon to the heart of Europe.

He added that threatening literature of thee US political and security officials against the Islamic Republic of Iran will make the US' hostile approach transparent to the world public opinion, leaving not the least effect on principled policies of Iran in regional issues, upgrading conventional defense capabilities and continued support for the nations oppressed by the domineering systems.
