Senior Iran MP calls for improvement of ties with Oman

The Islamic Republic of Iran welcomes development of relations with Oman in all fields, in particular the parliamentary affairs, Head of Majlis (Iranian Parliament) National Security and Foreign Policy Commission Heshmatollah Falahat-Pisheh said in a meeting with Oman Ambassador to Iran Saud bin Ahmad Khalid al-Barwani.

He referred to Iran's support for the Syrian government and said that Tehran is present in other countries at the invitation from the legitimate governments of those countries.

Commenting on US President Donald Trump's offer for talks with Iran without any precondition, the MP said that negotiations (with the US) is not a taboo for Iran, maintaining that Iran and the US had no strategy to remove challenges between them.

During the meeting, the Omani envoy expressed satisfaction with the current level of cooperation between Tehran and Muscat and described Iran as the most stable country of the region.

Omani Foreign Minister Yusuf bin Alawi bin Abdullah said on Tuesday that his country is ready to mediate to mend relations between Iran and the US.

US President Donald Trump during his meeting with Italy's prime minister on Monday said Washington is ready to kick off talks with Tehran without setting any preconditions.
