Russia: JCPOA abrogation will seriously affect int’l security

The statement was released by a Russian delegation participating in the Second Session of the Preparatory Committee of 2020 Review Conference of the Parties to the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons which is underway in Geneva.

The statement warned that disruption of fragile equilibrium of the parties’ interests in JCPOA will have serious repercussions for the international security and NPT.

Unjustified abrogation of JCPOA will adversely affect the attempts to solve nuclear problems of the Korea Peninsula, it said, voicing Russian support for the progress made in dialogues between South Korea and North Korea.

Russia welcomes North Korea’s decision to stop nuclear and missile tests, describing the decision as a major step in line with de-escalating tensions in the Korean Peninsula and improving situation in Northeast Asia, the statement said.
