Russia, Iran, Turkey underline territorial integrity of Syria

He made the remarks in joint press conference with his Iranian and Turkish counterparts Mohammad Javad Zarif and Mevlut Cavusoglu at the end the trilateral meeting focusing on Syrian crisis and making arrangements for holding the ninth round of Astana Talks.

Commenting on the joint statement signed at the end of the meeting, Lavrov said that the statement strongly insisted that the only way out of the Syrian crisis is a diplomatic solution based on UN Resolution 2254 as the proposals of the Syria National Dialogue Congress which was held in Sochi.

Referring to the recent missile attack by the US, UK and France on Syria, he said that during the meeting, the trio underlined that the April 14 illegal attack made under false excuses caused a potential political settlement of the Syrian crisis to suffer a setback.

Lavrov also announced that arrangements have been made to hold the ninth round of Astana Peace Talks in mid-May.

He also reiterated that fighting terrorists will continue incessantly even in the de-escalation zones.

Trilateral meeting of the Iranian, Russian and Turkish foreign ministers on Syria was held in Moscow on Saturday.

After the trilateral meeting, Lavrov sat down for bilateral talks with his Iranian and Turkish counterparts.
