Putin: Iran, Russia, Turkey to boost counterterrorism cooperation

After the end of the meeting of the three countries’ leaders in the Black Sea resort of Sochi on Wednesday, Putin said that they agreed to actively engage in solving issues such as establishing peace and stability in Syria and preserving sovereignty and territorial integrity of the country.

He also hoped that three countries’ agreements will accelerate trend of solving problems facing Syria and reduce risk of tribal and religious conflicts recurrence.

Russian president also thanked Rouhani and Erdoghan for holding conducive and fruitful talks, saying that Russia, Iran and Turkey approved to continue fighting terrorists including Daesh.

Stressing the need for increasing humanitarian aid to Syria on behalf of Iran, Syria and Turkey, he said that the three countries can encourage other countries to the important issue.

Putin pointed out that first step to start dialogue among all the Syrian parties has been taken.

Trilateral meeting of Russian, Iranian and Turkish presidents was held in Sochi to examine results of the Astana Talks and beginning of diplomatic processes inside the country.

At the end of the presidential meeting, the three chief executives in a joint statement reaffirmed support for preserving Syrian sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity, vowing to keep up fighting until full elimination of terrorist groups.
