President Rouhani: US looking for pressuring Iranians

Rouhani made the remarks Saturday addressing a meeting with heads of three branches of power referring to US false analysis of Iranian people.

He categorically dismissed the US claims that it is exerting pressure on the Iranian government and not Iranian people.

The US administration has targeted banking system and oil exports since they deal with the whole country's income and also importing basic products, he added.

Rouhani referred to the fact that the new US sanctions on Iran have no effect, and said the Americans had shot their last bolt against Iranian people and they have nothing new to present.

It is obvious that their act is just aimed at having psychological effect on Iranians, he said.

Commenting on the claims to cut Iranian oil to zero, President Rouhani said they have recently confessed that they will not be able to do so.

The oil will be exported in the region totally or if it is supposed to stop Iran oil exports, others will also have problem, he reiterated.

Since they have been under the pressure of the public opinion, Americans had to retreat and to exclude food, drug and medical equipment, Rouhani said.

But in fact when they sanction banking systems, it will affect all areas, he added.

Iranian president went on to say that we have no problem as regard providing basic products.

US will find out that it has taken the wrong path; he said, adding that the path will not frustrate Iranians, but will make them more prepared for maintaining closer ties with neighbors.

Pointing to the decree issued by Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei as regard drawing the road map, Rouhani said 'we have discussed establishing closer ties with neighboring countries'.

Referring to the US allegations as regard Iran support of terrorism, he said as always Iran will be in the forefront of fighting terrorism and also preventing financing of terrorist groups.

Iranian government will provide the less-privileged with the first food aid package in November and the process will be repeated several times until the end of the current Iranian calendar year (ending on March 20).

'The government in this way intends to compensate for the pressure faced by the less-privileged,' President Rouhani said.

After Washington's May 8 exit from the historic Iran Deal, the US gave 90- and 180-day wind-down periods to other countries before it starts re-imposing oil sanctions on Tehran on November 4.

Part of the US' illegitimate sanctions were imposed on Iran on August 9.

On Monday, Trump reinstated the US nuclear sanctions on Iran and imposed, as he claimed, “the highest level” of economic bans on the Islamic Republic of Iran.

This is while other signatories of Iran Deal condemned the US' measure to withdraw from the JCPOA.
