'We hope that we, the statesmen, be able to provide the situation for peace and inseparable unity between nations and grant our people growing prosperity and welfare,' wrote President Rouhani in his message to leaders of Afghanistan, Tajikistan, Pakistan, Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan, Armenia, Turkey, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Iraq and Uzbekistan.
He wished a year of hope, happiness and success for the people of the region.
Based on the joint recommendation of Iran, Azerbaijan, Afghanistan, India, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Tajikistan in 2010, Nowruz was added to the UNESCO List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
Nowruz is a thousands-year festival that marks the beginning of spring and the Iranian year.
